Who is the new army chief? Ministry of Defense got 6 names


Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has confirmed the receipt of the summary sent by the Ministry of Defense to the Prime Minister.

Maryam Aurangzeb has stated that the summary sent by the Ministry of Defense has been received by the Prime Minister’s Office. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will decide on these appointments according to the prescribed procedure.

GHQ had submitted the names of 6 senior Lt. Generals to the Ministry of Defence. According to Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, the summary has been received by the Prime Minister’s Office, God willing, the rest of the steps will be completed soon.

According to the statement of DG ISPR Lt Gen Babar Iftikhar, the names of 6 senior Lt Generals have been submitted to the Ministry of Defense by GHQ. An off-staff committee will be appointed.

The summary also includes a dossier containing the profile of these officers. In the light of this summary, the Prime Minister will use his authority to select an officer and designate him as the Army Chief. While one officer will be appointed as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. The President approves this name in the light of the recommendations of the Prime Minister. Lt. Gen. Asim Munir is at the top in seniority.

Lt. Gen. Asim Muniras is currently serving as Quartermaster General GHQ. He belongs to Officer Training School Mangala, junior from 75th Long Course and senior from 76th Long Course.

After Lt Gen Asim Munir, the second name in the seniority list is Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Sahir Shamshad Mirza from Sindh Regiment is currently commanding the Rawalpindi Corps.

Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas, who belongs to the Baloch Regiment, comes after Asim Munir and Sahir Shamshad Mirza in seniority.

Lt. Gen. Nauman Mehmood is fourth in seniority, and has a solid career, and is considered an expert in the military, particularly on Pakistan’s western border. He is currently the president of the National Defense University while earlier he was posted as Corps Commander of Peshawar.
Former ISI chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed belongs to Baloch Regiment, he is currently serving as Corps Commander Bahawalpur after serving as Corps Commander Peshawar.

Lt Gen Muhammad Aamir Kaname comes after Lt Gen Faiz Hameed in the list. He is currently serving as Corps Commander Gujranwala. He also served as Adjutant General at GHQ.
