Tweeting in a trend does not constitute a crime, Islamabad High Court

[ad_1]

The Islamabad High Court declared the case over the controversial tweet as exceeding the jurisdiction of the FIA. The court dismissed the case against the citizen.

In the order issued by Justice Babar Sattar, it has been written that this type of FIR is an attempt to curtail the expression of opinion. Mere tweeting in any trend does not commit a crime. Unless the tweeter used the wrong wording, the Twitter user added Vigo and spoke of extrajudicial enforced disappearances.

Justice Babar Sattar wrote that the FIA has made a mockery of the state by registering this case. It is a tragedy that FIA has reinforced such suspicions in the public’s mind by making a criminal case on such a tweet.
