Supreme Court orders IG Punjab to register FIR for attack on Imran Khan

The Supreme Court has ordered the IG Punjab to file an FIR against Imran Khan.

A hearing was held on the contempt of court petition against Imran Khan under the chairmanship of Justice Umar Atta Bandial of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court summoned the IG Punjab and the Advocate General Punjab in the Imran Khan contempt of court case, while the IG Police from Lahore Registry participated through a video link.

During the hearing of the contempt of court case against Imran Khan, Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja told the court that our client has been defrauded.

The Chief Justice asked the IG Police that an FIR has been registered for this incident. Tell us why the FIR has not been filed and tell us the time by which you will file the FIR.

Justice Umar Atta Bandial remarked that there should be a solid reason for not registering a case, act according to the law, the court is with you, you should investigate the officers, as long as you are in office no one should interfere with your work. If someone interferes in your work, IG sir, the court will interfere in his work.

The Chief Justice said that how long will the case be registered? If the FIR of Imran Khan’s attack is not registered in 24 hours, they will automatically take notice, there has been a murderous attack on a national leader, under the criminal justice system, an FIR must be registered.

On the other hand, IG Punjab said in the court that we have spoken to the Chief Minister Punjab to file an FIR of the incident, he has expressed some reservations.

IG Punjab said that one person has been martyred in the incident, an FIR should be registered on the complaint of the relatives of this incident, 8 IGs have changed in Punjab in 4 years.

On this, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that do not tell us what options are available to the police, we are not taking notice at this time.

Justice Umar Atta Bandial further said that the provision of criminal justice system is our first priority, the letter you wrote is lying on the internet, we will support the actions of the police under the law.

It should be remembered that Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan was injured in the murderous attack that took place during the long march in Wazirabad on November 3, but the FIR of the incident has not been registered so far.
