Preparation to increase the price of electricity by Rs 2 18 paise per unit


The hearing on the request to increase the price of electricity by 2 rupees 18 paise per unit in Nepra has been completed. The increase will be made in the first quarter adjustment of the current financial year

Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H. Farooqui held a hearing on the quarterly tariff adjustment. Mapco officials said that due to the flood, there has been a decrease in the electricity sales of Mapco. Nepra officials said that the reduction in electricity sales affected the capacity payments. Compared to the previous quarter, the sales were ten percent lower.

Officials of Power Division said that our effort is not to increase the price of electricity. Efforts are being made to avoid price shock to consumers. We request that this increase be applied by February and March.

Chairman Nepra said that the recovery of 43 billion from electricity consumers is a huge amount.

He said to submit a written request regarding making the quarter into two months. Nepra will issue a decision after reviewing the data.

It should be noted that the increase in electricity price will be applied to all electricity distribution companies except K Electric.
