ISLAMABAD: In the federal capital Islamabad, the process of filing appeals on the decisions to approve or reject the nomination papers for the local body elections continues.
The returning officers for the local body elections had completed the scrutiny of nomination papers on November 18. There are 490 nominees for the posts of chairman and vice chairman in 101 union councils of Islamabad.
In this regard, 331 nomination papers have been approved for farmer and worker seats, 314 for youth seats and 134 for minority seats, while 503 nomination papers for women’s seats and 1773 candidates for general seats have also been approved.
It should be noted that today is the last date for filing appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers, decisions on appeals for acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be issued on November 28.
Candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers till November 30 for the local body elections in Islamabad, election symbols will be allotted to the final candidates on December 1, while polling will be held on December 31.
