Hearing on appeal against sentence of Hanif Abbasi in drug case postponed without action

In the Lahore High Court, the hearing on the appeal against Hanif Abbasi’s sentence in the drug case was adjourned without action.

The court adjourned the hearing on the adjournment request of the ANF prosecutor and summoned the ANF prosecutor for the next hearing on November 30.

A two-member bench headed by Miss Justice Alia Neelam heard the petition of Hanif Abbasi.

Hanif Abbasi appeared in the court along with his lawyer.

The petitioner’s lawyer submitted before the court that Hanif Abbasi was implicated in a false political case.

The appellant’s lawyer said that the Special Judge Rawalpindi sentenced Hanif Abbasi to 14 years imprisonment. The Lahore High Court has suspended the execution of the sentence, the appeal has not yet been decided.

Lawyer Hanif Abbasi pleaded that now the general elections are near, the final decision on the appeal against the sentence should be taken and the court should approve the appeal against the sentence and order the acquittal.
