Lahore: The Punjab government has taken a principled decision to run electric rickshaws in the province.
The fourth meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. The provincial cabinet mandated the sugar mills to start crushing from November 25, while the provincial cabinet approved raising the support price of sugarcane to Rs 300.
Bank of Punjab was also approved to be included in the Ehsaas Ration Discount Program while the Provincial Cabinet approved giving Grade 21 to DG Rescue 1122. In the cabinet meeting, tributes were paid to the DG and the entire team of Rescue 1122.
Chief Minister Pervez Elahi said that Rescue 1122 helped people without discrimination during the floods.
The provincial cabinet approved the regulation of registration of electric vehicles and took the decision in principle to operate electric rickshaws in Punjab.
Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said that he will give up to 50% discount in taxes.
The Chief Minister also approved the recruitment of 3,000 vacancies in the Punjab Police and the contract of the Chief Operating Officer of the Punjab Safe City Authority was extended for 2 years. Punjab Safe City Authority agreement with Huawei was approved in principle. The Cabinet also approved the appointment of the Chairman of the LDA Tribunal. It was also approved to declare Sargodha and Bahawalpur as city area of respective development authority.
The annual report of the Punjab Commission on State of Women and the audit reports on the accounts of the Government of Punjab were approved while the audit of the Public Sector Enterprise Government of Punjab audit account was also approved.
In addition to the approval of the rules and regulations for the appointment of the Chairman Zakat and Ushar Council, the amendment in the Quaid-e-Azam Library Schedule Regulation 1984 was approved. Amendment of Punjab Public Library General Regulation 2012 was also approved.
Re-examination of contract of Quaid-e-Azam Business Park and payment of 3-month notice period salary to ex-Roda Chairman were also approved.
Parvez Elahi said that the program of distribution of 12 billion rupees to more than 55 thousand flood victims is an example and one billion has been kept for Sindh, but no work has been done there. Diseases are spreading in Sindh and those people are doing nothing but politics.
