Aircraft engine caught fire, emergency landing in Islamabad

PIA’s ATR aircraft has made an emergency landing at Islamabad International Airport.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the ATR aircraft was coming from Sukkur to Islamabad when the pilot gave a May Day call shortly before landing. Ambulance and fire engines were immediately dispatched to the runway, the plane landed safely.

According to the pilot, during the flight, engine number 2 was warned of fire. Engine No. 2 was shut down as a precaution. The plane landed safely under the power of one engine, with 54 passengers on board. Spokesperson Civil Aviation Authority has said that the medical test of the pilot will be conducted as per the prescribed SOPs.
